5 Easy Tips to Get Your Home Monsoon Ready

Monsoon is a joy not only for the farmers but for all of us too. However the very thought of seepage, fungal growth on walls, damage to your expensive wooden furniture itself makes one get worried seeing the cloudy sky.

Here are some tips to keep your loved belongings safely against damages caused during the monsoon.

  1. Make A Check Before the Monsoon

Always make it a habit of making a thorough check of your house just before the onset of monsoon. Check for cracks, fissures and so on, these are the paths through which rain water seeps into your walls. Such seepage would soon turn into a breeding ground for fungal spores.

Fungus or bacterial spores when present in favorable conditions spread easily in millions of numbers. This would cause diseases that are common during monsoon.

Thus if there are any sich fissure get it repaired immediately.

  1. Check the Drainage

How long before did you have a look into the drainage system of your house?

Well its due before every monsoon, get someone to look into all the outlets from your house and check for clogs or holes and so on.

Any debris clogging pipes has to be cleared so that they do not become the breeding grounds for dangerous mosquitoes in the rainy season.

  1. Get On the Roof

Get on to the roof and check for any damage or leaks especially if you have a terrace garden. Change the place of all the plants if possible and change the sheet that is spread on the floor of your terrace.

4. Have You Got the Rain Harvesting System in Place

Rain Harvesting is very important these days because of the scarcity of water. Make sure you make a proper water harvesting system and collect water to store for yourself and your plants.

  1. Check Ventilation

Have a thorough check of the ventilation system of your house. Make sure the place where you would alternatively dry your clothes such as the balcony or an extra room, is ventilated well. This gives you space for the moisture to get out instead of lingering around and causing trouble later.

Make you home monsoon ready so that you do not run around once the monsoon sets. Move your wooden furniture a little away from the walls in case of passive moisture absorbance. Try to keep your rooms well aerated and keep a blower ready.

You are sure to thank yourself for the good work done into the monsoon!
