Benefits Of Yoga – By Amala

Physical level

A person practicing yoga will have a body which is well proportioned , soft like flower and flexible to core. But it can acquire a diamond?s harness when required. All organs and systems work in harmony. The chronic and acute ailments vanish from the body.

Mental level

Yogic practices increases the creativity and willpower in man. Every obstacle is a challenge and bravery becomes a part of the personality for a regular practioner of yoga.

Emotional level

yoga brings steadiness at the emotional level so that we can face the ups and downs in life with equanimity. Hence it increases happiness in life.

Intellectual level

yoga increases concentration. It also pacifies or calms down our mind giving it the ability to detach. Swami Vivekananda has emphasized concentration and detachment as the vital parts of education.

Spiritual level

manifesting the innate divinity in man in all aspects of life. The six major enemies of man namely-kama (desire), krodha(anger), lobha(miserliness), moha(infatuation), mada(arrogance) and matsarya(jealousy) start diminishing.

Lots of people have a doubt as to the comparative efficiency of yoga as an exercise compared to other forms of exercises like walking jogging, aerobics, going to gym etc? a yoga instructor I would say only this in support of yoga ? all other forms of exercise work on the muscular system and circulatory system only, while yoga gives exercise to nervous system, endocrine system, digestive system, spine, mind including the above mentioned!

This does not mean that you should stop all other forms of exercise and do only yoga. Other forms of exercises should be done before doing yoga! End your work out with yoga to maintain calm and equipoise throughout the day.
