From time immemorial, people always considered lemon as a ?magic? fruit that had strong anti-bacterial, anti-viral and immune boosting properties. Lemon juice is generally used as a liver cleanser and aided in weight loss.

However, there is much more to add when it comes to the benefits of lemon, some of them of which you would not have had any idea.

Lemon-Juice

Cosmetic Use

To get a glow in the face and to get rid of acne, drink lemon juice mixed with warm water first thing in the morning. In addition to this, lemon juice can be mixed with rose water and applied to the affected area with cotton ball and washed off after half an hour.

Mouth Problems

If Canker Sores are mild, fresh lemon juice mixed with lukewarm water will heal the sore. It might cause mild irritation but the antibacterial property in lemon helps in the healing process.

For a fresh breath, you can chew a piece of lemon directly or rinse your mouth with a glass of warm lemon juice.

Fever, Cold and Sore throat

Lemon also helps in easing fever symptoms. Mix the juice of one fresh lemon and a teaspoon of honey in hot water and drink every two hours till the fever subsides.

If you experience an indication of cold or sore throat, the body would prepare its immune system to fight against the infection. Vitamin C is the most essential element in boosting the body?s immune system. Hence, lemon which is a rich source of vitamin C can be used for this purpose. In case of cold, drink the juice of lemon mixed with warm water. For sore throat, mix lemon juice to warm water and sea salt and gargle it every two hours.

Hypertension and Cholesterol

The combination of Garlic, Onion and Lemon act well in reducing hypertension. Add two or three crushed garlic cloves and a chopped onion to approximately one litre of skimmed milk. Let it boil and stand for five minutes. Sieve and chill the mixture. To this, add fresh lemon juice and consume it within a day. This will help lower the hypertension.

The presence of pectin in lemon helps in regularizing metabolism and circulation. Thus, consuming lemon juice regularly helps to lower cholesterol.

Rheumatism

Lemon juice produces an alkaline effect in the body thus keeping a balance in the body, thus, relieving symptoms of rheumatism. Lemon juice with warm water can be consumes twice or thrice a day to keep the rheumatic pain at bay.

Kidney Stones

Lemon juice along with the combination of Olive oil and Apple cider vinegar helps in the treatment of kidney stones. Mix 2 ounces of lemon juice and olive oil with 12 ounce of water. Drink this combination. After half an hour, mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with juice of half a lemon and consume it. While the lemon juice helps in breaking the kidney stones, the olive oil lubricates the tubes from kidney to bladder for smooth removal of the stones.

And last but not least, Beat the Heat with a chilled lemon juice!
