Often people get confused between indigestion and heartburn. It is apparently two different problems where heart-burns produces a burning sensation in the center of the chest and indigestion produces bloating, fullness after a meal and a pain or burning sensation in the upper abdomen. Many things like the food you eat or your lifestyle can all causes this problem, but the remedy is easily available right from your kitchen.
You must eat your food slowly and chew them well, else when you gulp down food , you tend to swallow gas which causes bloating and gas in your tummy, and dinner should be done 3 hours before bedtime, as food wont digest well during sleep.
Ginger
Ginger is one of the best remedy used for ages to get rid of bloating and indigestion. It improves digestion, you can either add it in your food, else brew up a cup of ginger tea. If you don?t like them you can also try the ginger candy , which are ginger slices that are dried and coated with sugar and can tame stomach aches and can be given to children as well and handy as well.
Peppermint
It is very good as it soothes intestinal muscle spasm and help to prevent nausea too mainly during the first trimester of pregnancy. You can also brew it, wherein you can put dried peppermint in a cup of hot water.
Make your own chew
You can make a seedy chew which helps to get rid of gas and helps to cure indigestion. Take a teaspoon of fennel, dill, anise seeds and caraway seeds and blend them into fine powder. Have this after your meal and whenever you feel discomfort.
Chamomile Tea or Mint Tea
These teas are really good after a big fat meal as this soothes the dyspeptic feeling. Just take one of either tea bags or cover and allow it to steep in warm water and drink the tea slowly.
Essential Oils
Aroma therapists has stated that the inhaling essential oils such as peppermint oil, lavender oil or any other oil essential oils will soothe and can cure an upset stomach.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Just before having a heavy meal, you can try drinking one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with honey in warm water and gulp it down; this is very effective and reduces the risk of indigestion problem.
Soda
Soda of any form relives gas and neutralizes the stomach from bloating. You can either take a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink, else in a plain soda, squeeze in lemon and add a pinch of salt and drink it, as it?s very effective. You can also have a ginger ale and store it in your refrigerator for emergency.
These are few tips to help you get rid of indigestion, but also be aware that the fructose in fruit juices can cause this problem as it goes undigested and into the colon, so it is better to drink juices along with meals and also check for cheese or any dairy products which causes this problem and avoid them.
